How many times have you wanted to have a salad at a restaurant only to remember your dressing options are NOT good. It is very hard to find salad dressing with no sugar! I absolutely love my Trim Healthy Mama (THM) poppy seed dressing but sometimes I need some variety. Although, I do make most of my salads with poppy seed dressing and I will say I am not sick of it yet…but this week I found another one to love! This week the jar salad I made is a cobb salad with a Catalina-style THM dressing.
If you are just joining us and wondering what Trim Healthy Mama (THM) is you can read more about it here. Even if you are not following this healthy lifestyle, you can definitely benefit from the prep of these awesome jar salads. I absolutely LOVE opening my fridge when I’m hungry and finding jar salads prepped and ready to go. This is so much better than I would be grabbing for our of the pantry!
Cobb Jar Salad with Cataline-style French Dressing
Let’s jump right in and get these made up for the week! I started by hard boiling a few eggs. I try to have these on hand for snacks and what not so for me this is not a big deal. The way I like to hard boil them is in my Pressure cooker. It works so well! I just put them in the bottom and cover them almost all the way with water. Then I set it on the vegetable setting (2 minutes) and let it go. When they are doing I take them out and cool them with cold water. After this they peel AMAZING!! Did you hear that….they peel AMAZING! Try it! You will not be disappointed.
Once you have your eggs ready you will want to cut them or chop them. I use my Tupperware chop and prep. If you do not have one of these anything will do but, look how awesome it does with the eggs. I used two eggs. If you would love to get one of those choppers email me at jill@onemorelittlething.com and I will help you out with that! You can see the pressure cooker and chopper below but if you are ordering Tupperware I would recommend ordering directly from me.
When your eggs are cooking I prep the dressing. Are you ready for this? Can you believe it? Catalina that is ON plan! YAHOO!!!
THM Catalina-style Dressing
As you may have noticed in my poppy seed dressing post I like to use my Tupperware Quick Shake container to make my dressings. It is awesome because you just load everything in and shake it up. Then it easily pours into your jars. If you have leftovers it is great to have in the door of your fridge! Don’t have a Quick Shake container? Email me a jill@onemorelittlething.com and I will gladly get one coming for you! You can also find it at this amazon link below.

I like to use my Tupperware Quick Shake container for this because if I have extra I keep it stored in my fridge.
After you have the egg boiled and the dressing made you are ready to assemble these beauties! I like to use whatever is easy for meat so sometimes it’s lunch meat for the turkey and sometimes it’s leftover turkey. I also love the Aldi’s boneless extra lean turkey hams so I usually use those for the ham. Any ham or turkey will work. You will also need some bacon and cheese. I do not always use the cheese because I try to keep dairy limited in my diet. I find this can stall my weight loss. When that is all loaded in your are ready to stuff it full of lettuce! How many jars does this make?
Jill says
It makes 4-6 quart jars. The dressing is about two cups when done so I usually have leftovers which I enjoy having in my fridge!
Jackie says
Layer “in order” according to what? What order?
Jill says
You later it in order as it is listed in the recipe. Usually dressing, meat, cheese, last lettuce.
Connie Forsythe Embleton says
4 Tbs onion powder seems like a lot…..is this accurate?
Jill says
I’m so sorry thanks for noticing the typo on that I have updated it to 4t.
Cayla Simons says
How long does the dressing last in the fridge?
Jill says
hummmm Good question… I usually make it up and leave it in there and sometimes it’s a month or two but then it’s usually gone so I know it lasts that long. I would even say it would last as long as ketchup does because there aren’t really any ingredients that would spoil?
