Summer is coming!!
Summer is so exciting but it also makes me have a slight anxiety attack. Having SIX kids home EVERY day to entertain, can make me want to run and hide. This time of year as we have some extra days off and the days get nice and long I start to plan what summer is going to look like in the Remijn house.
Make a Summer Plan
In order to survive the summer, I need to have a summer plan. A plan for sanity. One thing I like to plan out is naptime because while my littles are sleeping I need my bigger kids to be slightly quiet and it’s also a great time to do some school time review.
Naptime Activity Plan
At school, I think they call it the daily 5 but basically I think of a bunch of different activities I want the kids to do and then I try to plan out a rotation for the kids to do a few minutes of each thing. Some of the activities I’m planning for this summer plan include.
- Reading
- Piano
- Math facts
- School practice books
- Penmanship (this year I’m going to let my older girls learn some calligraphy)
- Listening to books on CD
- Baking/cooking
- Chores
My plan is for each kid to start with a different activity and spend 10-15 mins at each “station”. This doesn’t happen every day but I figure if we do it 3-5 times a week we are doing pretty great. It helps so much with going back to school also. Plus the downtime in the day for me is such a blessing!
Education.com
A place I like to get some easy activities from is education.com and they have created some easy activities for me to share with you today. There are LOTS of resources on this website that can help with your summer plan too!
